Addition of Black-World-View news column to IBW’s Monthly Report increases mailing list from 1500 to 4500 readers.

Third World Press and IBW jointly publish Margaret Walker’s How I Wrote Jubilee in the IBW Black Papers Series. It is the second co-publishing venture between IBW and Third World Press and the fourth paper in the Black Papers Series.

IBW staff members publish articles in the May and October issues of Black World, the Summer issue of Encore and the Winter issue of Black Book Bulletin.

Senior Research Fellow, Stephen Henderson’s Understanding the New Black Poetry is the first book published by William Morrow and Company in a proposed ten-book series that would carry a joint IBW/Morrow imprint.

IBW sponsors a second Summer Research Institute. It focuses on turning the content of the 1971 Institute into educational resources for use in teacher training and classroom instruction. A collection of audio and video tapes featuring the 1971 lectures of St. Clair Drake, C.L.R. James, Vincent Harding, George Beckford, and Walter Rodney are published and disseminated to Black Studies departments of five universities.
